WELDICTION Plus - Welding Multimedia Dictionary, is a project whose main goal is to gather the most well-known welding terms in a multimedia dictionary format. This has become a necessity since the conclusion of the original Weldiction in 2001, due to the significant changes that have occurred in the sector since then, with further internationalization of the European welding sector. Consequently, to enhance the application of the dictionary to 2 new languages becomes a significant added-value for the sector.

The present project is financed under the LLP – Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission (http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-programme/doc78_en.htm) and, specifically, falls under LdV – the Leonardo da Vinci funding programme (http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-programme/doc82_en.htm) for innovation in Vocational and Educational Training (VET).

By trying to diminish the difficulties of communication in the international welding market, and looking to achieve a degree of harmonization of the technical terms of the area, the project will be able to promote initial and lifelong learning training through a multilingual multimedia training support. This will greatly contribute towards:

• The adaptation of contents and methodologies of VET considering the technological changes and the new market approaches;
• The improvement and definition of new linguistic skills among the partners and stakeholders.
